It's been a great summer and I've been working on this mix since the beginning of it. I kept finishing it then changing it, then finishing it then changing it again...etc. But FINALLY, I am happy with the finished product!!! I'm not one of those DJs that tries to cram the newest, hottest, top of the chart songs into their mixes, so forgive me if some of my songs are a little "outdated" :) I play what's good.

P.S. It's a FAT file. Sorry, I wanted it to be a 256 bitrate instead of a 192 so its like 165ish MB :O!...and it's an hour and a half long. So why don't you give it a listen on your way up to Nocturnal this weekend, eh? ;) Just kidding. Enjoy! :)

First Blog!!

My first blog!
So a little about myself for those of you who don't already know me...
My name's Emily AKA Cupcake (My rave & DJ name).

I started raving in January and it completely changed my life. I had always loved music and had been playing, writing, performing it since I was 5, but raving added a whole new aspect to it. I won't get all into that. After my first rave (Pajama Jam 09), I decided I wanted to learn how to spin.

Coincidentally...my school, UCSD, had a DJ Club called the DJ's and Vinylphiles Club (DVC). So of course I join, a little hesitant at first since I was the only girl, but continued nonetheless. George trained me and introduced me to electro music. Over the course of 5 months, I learned about tons of new genres, subgenres, mixing styles, etc. etc.

I was soooo amped that I was getting the chance to learn how to spin! Mixing is all I think about now and I love it to death. I'm always looking for new ways to improve so I'm open to any criticisms/comments/suggestions you may have for me :)

So anyway. Here's one of my mixes. I call it my "Sungod Mini-Mix" from my timeslot at UCSD's annual Sungod Music Festival. I'm sooooo grateful to have had the chance to spin at Sungod. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life!! ESPECIALLY seeing GIRLTALK! wow. ridiculous.
